New Clothes For The Office Help Women Reach Employment Goals

Dress for SuccessThere is a difference between being down on your luck and being without a job. Every person that does not come from a wealthy family must work to pay for monthly living expenses. Women that have a background of incarceration, divorce and drug abuse have a hard time getting back into the job market without a source of corporate clothing. Donating clothes for the office will help women to dress nicely while they get their lives back on track and reach their desperately needed employment goals. Without assistance from Dress for Success, these types of donations would not be possible.

Traditional charity programs put more emphasis on donating money to support a cause. The Dress for Success charity depends on donated clothing as well as cash to provide needed support. Every person regardless of gender feels fantastic with a new wardrobe. Women that are limited on financial resources use this donated clothing to attend job interviews to secure new employment. One of the best parts about this clothing is that many caring people donate brand new and gently used clothing that is kept by each woman that enters the charitable programme. Clothing also helps to boost morale and attitude in desperate times.

Someone that has a good job might have a hard time understanding the need for basics like clothing and training. Not every person has the ability to receive the best education or all of the opportunities that come from referrals when entering the job market. Having a past that includes setbacks and delays makes the job hunting process harder. Dress for Success not only provides clothes for the office. This charity provides expert training from current specialists in the very positions that women are seeking. This provides the most updated training to increase the chance of women achieving their employment goals.

The average employer expects more than an applicant that needs a job to grant an interview. Many factors are considered before a person is called in to interview. Knowing how to answer interview questions and highlight relevant experience takes time to learn. Dress for Success provides the appropriate training and clothes for the office to build self-confidence and raise the chance of job interviews leading to employment. Underprivileged ladies that are rebuilding their working careers are doing so with personal assistance from this charity. Both European and USA women have access to the amenities of this programme.

Empowering Women With Dress For Success

Dress for Success started as a New York charity in 1997 and has since spread globally to cities all over the world including London.  The organisation provides new and second hand clothing to women with low incomes about to embark on a job interview.  In addition to clothing, these women also receive a training session to help prepare for the interview and address any concerns they may have about the process.

The organisation’s goal is to empower women who have found the opportunity to better their financial situation with a new job.  However, many of these women cannot afford proper attire that will help them make a good impression for the interview.  Furthermore, some women may need some additional confidence to make it through the interview process because it may have been a while since sitting through such a stressful process.

The organisation does not simply give clothes to women.  A trained stylist finds out an individual’s style and colour preferences in order to help her find something suitable that will make her presentable and comfortable.  After this dressing, a senior executive will spend half an hour with her in a training session that not only helps her find out what to expect but also to address any concerns she may have.

Dress for Success in London works with more than 50 volunteers and accepts financial contributions and volunteer time in addition to clothing donations.  The organisation also works with various referral agencies such as Jobcentre Plus and Work Programme as well as homeless charities, prisons and women’s refuges in order to help women become financially independent and improve their living situations.  It also works with various corporate partners to run workshops, fund raise and work with volunteer programmes.

This organisation’s involvement with women’s empowerment does not end when they leave its doors for the job interview.  Women who find jobs may make an additional appointment to get more clothes to start the job, taking off the pressure of having to buy a new wardrobe once the job starts.  Hundreds of women receive the assistance they need each year through this charity.
