The popularity of green technologies is causing more people to think twice about the lighting that is used to light up a home or flat. The cost conscious ideas of lighting manufacturers have paved the way for huge energy savings for homeowners. LED lights are not new to the home lighting market, but they have drastically been reduced in price due to the surge in green lighting solutions. You can decorate in many ways using LED lights compared to traditional bulbs.
Since LED lights use a different form of illumination, the colour temperature is slightly different and makes for a dramatic effect. A slightly bluish tint offers an alternative to the bright white shade of fluorescent lighting. The electrical consumption for these lights is very small and you will notice a large decrease in your energy bill when you decorate or redecorate with LED lighting. There are just as many fixtures available for this lighting as with regular bulbs.
Another advantage to decorating with LED lighting is the mood that can be created. Different coloured LEDs are available to create any type of atmosphere in your home that you wish. LED ceiling lights are available in different shapes and styles that compliment the decorative nature of the light and the colour range that is produced. Some lights can change colours automatically creating noticeable mood changes without requiring a separate lighting controller.
Both indoor and outdoor LED lighting is available to create combinations of lighting styles. Outdoor wall lights are perfect to shine light near entry doors and sidewalks. A diffused plate is the secret behind the spread of the light. The diffuser functions like a lampshade casting light in a wider direction while using less energy to operate. Many homeowners are turning to LED outdoor lighting as a cheaper alternative to halogen lights.
You have many ways using LED lighting to solve any illumination dilemma that you face inside of your home or flat. Everything from wall lights, picture lights, track lighting and spot lights are made with LEDs to give you more variety in creating the perfectly decorated home.
In the fast paced world of contemporary society, it is difficult to obtain rest that restores both the mind and body. Sleep is integral to good health. A well rested person is a better able to learn information, is more focused and reliable, and has greater aptitude for remembering precise details. Even though good sleep is vital to healthy habits, harried work schedules, busy family life, and social obligations can prevent many people from getting the rest they deserve. In addition to a list of activities and appointments, other aspects of modern life can also interfere with quality rest. Before the widespread availability of electricity, there was little light to keep the mind awake after sunset. The warm glow of a fire or candles, even gas lighting, created a soft ambient glow unlike the interruptive glare given off by the ubiquitous electronic devices of today. Alarm clocks, street lights, traffic, stop lights, even the power lights of cell phones and home computers cast enough ambient light in a room to create awareness in the mind. The busy pace of modern life, in combination with electronic light from computer screens, mobile devices and television sets interfere with the delicate balance of sleep regulating hormones. People, more now than ever, are being kept awake when they should be sleeping.
Fortunately for bleary eyed people around the world, there is a simple homeopathic solution for better rest. Unlike habit forming prescription medication, or costly and expensive medical treatments, an eye mask provides a simple, inexpensive, minimally invasive solution for resting well. Many people may believe the only way to sleep better at night is to use sleep inducing drugs. While medical treatment for sleep conditions is an effective solution for those easily roused from sleep, drugs can be habit forming. They alter the balance of hormones in the mind and can be habit forming. Another negative to prescription medication is its limited use. If a person is planning on taking medication to treat irregular sleep, a sudden change in plans can interfere with the drug’s effectiveness. A person is not able to drive after taking medication, and may not be able to take other medicine that could interfere with their sleep treatment. An eye mask, however, has no such complications. Portable and light, it can be taken on holiday or even stowed in a pocket book on a train trip. It shuts out ambient light, leaving the mind in total darkness. This helps natural physiological processes work their best to create great rest.
Dress for Success started as a New York charity in 1997 and has since spread globally to cities all over the world including London. The organisation provides new and second hand clothing to women with low incomes about to embark on a job interview. In addition to clothing, these women also receive a training session to help prepare for the interview and address any concerns they may have about the process.
The organisation’s goal is to empower women who have found the opportunity to better their financial situation with a new job. However, many of these women cannot afford proper attire that will help them make a good impression for the interview. Furthermore, some women may need some additional confidence to make it through the interview process because it may have been a while since sitting through such a stressful process.
The organisation does not simply give clothes to women. A trained stylist finds out an individual’s style and colour preferences in order to help her find something suitable that will make her presentable and comfortable. After this dressing, a senior executive will spend half an hour with her in a training session that not only helps her find out what to expect but also to address any concerns she may have.
Dress for Success in London works with more than 50 volunteers and accepts financial contributions and volunteer time in addition to clothing donations. The organisation also works with various referral agencies such as Jobcentre Plus and Work Programme as well as homeless charities, prisons and women’s refuges in order to help women become financially independent and improve their living situations. It also works with various corporate partners to run workshops, fund raise and work with volunteer programmes.
This organisation’s involvement with women’s empowerment does not end when they leave its doors for the job interview. Women who find jobs may make an additional appointment to get more clothes to start the job, taking off the pressure of having to buy a new wardrobe once the job starts. Hundreds of women receive the assistance they need each year through this charity.
